Is $$ holding you back?? Just so you know, as of this moment (pre-newsletter publication) we still have a couple scholarships available. All the details about applying for the scholarship are outlined in the Registration Form--or you can check with Barb (907-223-2327 in Anchorage or barbara@alaskabike.com) to get the latest info.
Don’t forget that between now and Camp (Memorial Day Weekend), we will be posting lots of messages with the upcoming important Dance Camp Info on the Dancing Bears’ Listserv. This is a great time to be a Listserv Member. It will keep you up to date on the latest Camp happenings. You can subscribe to the Listserv easily by signing up on the website homepage. All you do is supply your email address. When you sign up you will receive timely messages about Dance Camp (and other dance-related) events. And if you’re not into receiving Bears’ notices the rest of the year, it is also easy to “unsubscribe” from the Listserv after Camp should you be so inclined!

A REMINDER ABOUT DANCE CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
Cost for this year's Dance Camp will be the same as it has been since 2008. Camp tuition will be $240 for Perky Bears, and it grows as you procrastinate on getting your registration in. As always, if you might be looking for a way to lighten the financial load for Camp "tuition", we have several scholarships available. Scholarships cover half the cost of your camp fee and entail participating in 7-8 hours of camp work, generally helping in the kitchen, but there are also some for other activities such as helping with the silent auction and camp and bathhouse cleanup. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. A scholarship does NOT guarantee that you will get into camp...you still need to register as usual. And you must be CONFIRMED as a Scholarship Bear BEFORE registering as one. The details of the tasks and the registration process may be less confusing if we chat about them verbally, so if you are interested in a scholarship, please contact Barbara Rowland (223-2327 in Anchorage, or email barbara@alaskabike.com) soon to get the scoop!!

GUEST BANDS
As always, we will have two fantastic bands. Bringing a dynamic and varied Celtic flavor will be Changeling with Deborah Leigh Clark and Karl Colón. They have been called the Mad Celts, if that gives you an idea as to how exciting and powerful their music is! The Old Time sound will come from the strings of our beloved High Lonesome Sound. We will have two wonderful out-of-state callers: Diane Silver and Joseph Pimentel. The Guest Artist bios are on the Bears' Website at www://thedancingbears.org under the Dance Camp link.

CAMP REGISTRATION DETAIL FOR FAMILIES
We have a request for those families who are making plans to attend Dance Camp. In previous years, there has been some confusion about signing up for accommodation preferences. We had families whose kids chose to stay in cabins other than the family cabin (for which they were signed up), as well as some who thought they would be in tents and ended up in cabins (in which they were not expected). This makes it a bit of a challenge for our on-site registration Bear to delineate how many family cabins (as well as other types) we need. If you request a family cabin, please be clear which family members will be in the cabin. If your teens want to be in a Women's cabin with their friends they need to be aware that the cabin will be not be an exclusively teen cabin nor limited to only certain teens...and it would be helpful to have their preferences noted on the registration form.
Thanks so much! We have limited cabin spaces and need to accommodate all of our Campers!! Your help with this will make it a much smoother process for all to have their preferred accommodations at Camp.
